Background Documents for Updates to the Neighborhood Planning Process:

In 2009, the City launched a new emphasis and approach to neighborhood planning.

In 2007 the City Council allocated $550,000 for neighborhood planning, and the Community Assembly directed that each of Spokane's 27 Neighborhood Councils should have access to an equal share of these funds.

In order to maximize the impact of this allocation, the Community Assembly Neighborhood Planning Action Committee (CA-NPAC) worked with the Planning Services Department and Office of Neighborhood Services to develop a new, abbreviated approach to neighborhood planning. This new approach will focus on identifying neighborhood issues and challenge the neighborhood stakeholders, working in collaboration with an internal work group at City Hall, to find workable solutions. Of course, each neighborhood is unique. Different neighborhoods face different issues and the planning process will differ slightly from neighborhood to neighborhood.

We encourage you to use this website, which will feature resources and updates on the planning process, and to learn more about planning in your neighborhood.
